I have developed a keen interest in the issues and concerns faced by young especially first-time parents on the choice of preschool in Singapore and the challenges of early childhood development. As parents, we do not enroll in a school to learn how to bring up our children. Most of what we learnt are our own experience being brought up by our parents, our close relatives, and teachers in schools.
As a doctor, I have the privilege of studying the development of the child’s body especially the brain during the critical period of 3 to 6 years old. Unbeknown to me, I did not realize that disruptions and adverse experiences during these formative years could affect the lifelong outcome of the child.
For that reason, I am inspired to start a blog to address some of these development issues which I hope would benefit young parents seeking guidance on the optimal way to raise a child.
